Wabi Sabi

Back in January I sent my aunt a handmade birthday card. She is someone who I have crafted with my whole life. Sometimes we get a little nuts over perfection and I had a little smudge on this card. So inside I wrote to her, "This year I am going to embrace imperfection!" Time and again she has called me to say that those words have come back to her in different situations. And they have helped! Recently I found a book written by an artist named Serena Barton entitled Wabi Sabi. It talks about Mixed Media Techniques for Embracing Imperfection and Celebrating Happy Accidents! This book is calling my name! I am ordering it now and will post again soon how my Wabi Sabi journey progresses!

Woot! Woot! My etsy shop is live!

Grand opening for my etsy shop! Yes, that's right. I have finally opened an etsy shop. If you would like to check out a couple of my paintings. Like it today! There is so much to learn and think about with an etsy shop, but I am up for the challenge. Let me know if there is something that you would like to see in my shop. I really enjoy custom work! I must thank my husband, Dan, for giving me the support and extra push that I needed to learn how to sell artwork in this century! My motto this year is to embrace imperfection so if my store isn't quite up to par...that's ok. It is a work in progress. I hope you will visit my shop so you can see the progress that I make!

Happiness

Have you heard about the word of the year? You choose a word that describes how you want to be or something you need to remember throughout the year that will motivate you. I guess my word is happiness. I love to choose to be happy every day! And some days I don't even realize that I haven't chosen happiness...I've chosen "hold a grudge" which puts everything in a bad frame of mind. I thought I better write my word down here so I can remember to choose happiness every day! What is your word of the year?

Learning how to blog

Here goes...my first post on my new blog! Yes, I'm a newbie blogger! I have just started to create my Etsy shop, Fall Flavor. In connection with that, I am going to learn how to blog. Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I guess this means I will have to update my Facebook account...and do I have to learn how to tweet too? This is moving way too fast! Well, I hope you follow me on this technical journey. My kids are telling me I need a smartphone now too. Aargh! When will it end? I will keep you updated on my progress!
